All About Giving

People select private schools for many reasons. Those that choose Waldorf often do so because of the smaller class sizes, and the belief and rationale that the Waldorf approach helps our children develop an important confidence in lifelong learning that other approaches may not. Much of the recent brain research is pointing towards a realization that the type of approach that Waldorf espouses is a powerful way of learning for the 21st century.

A commitment to this approach by our parents can be reinforced by contributions to the school. While we look towards tuition to cover teacher's salaries, building maintenance and general administrative costs, gifts and donations help us enrich programs and maintain a level of excellence.

We Need Your Help!

The Kelowna Waldorf School is an independent school, open to the public. We strive to make Waldorf education available for all who desire it. We do not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, religion, nationality or ethnic origin. Only part of the cost of educating our children is met through tuition. Increasing fundraising and gifts can minimize tuition increases. The continuing challenge is to find activities that are the least labour-intensive for the amount of income generated and are supportive of our image and philosophy.

The Annual Giving Campaign

The Kelowna Waldorf Community has much more power than perhaps is realized to direct financial resources in ways that support, empower, and express what we believe in. Courage is needed to direct the flow, and with each choice we invest in the world as we envision it.

Gifts to our Annual Giving Campaign support our school and aid in the development of our programs that tuition alone cannot meet. A gift given in freedom is one of the most profound statements of support of the greater social goals of Waldorf Education. We ask that every family contribute to the Annual Giving Campaign (in whatever amount possible). One hundred percent participation in this effort by the families directly involved in our school provides a strong spiritual base for our fundraising efforts with those outside of our school community.

Gifts to the Annual Giving Campaign are fully tax-deductible and gratefully accepted throughout the year. With last years Annual Giving Campaign, we celebrated our schools 28th anniversary. We were reminded of the quieter, less visible, but very tangible improvements to our school made possible by generous financial contributions to the Annual Giving Campaign.

Notably, Kelowna Waldorf School

  • committed to continuing education for full time faculty – helping to attract and retain our most valued resource

  • expanded the safe Kindergarten play area to accommodate our second Kindergarten class - fruition of our goal to increase enrolment

  • enhanced and added to our outdoor items to enrich and enliven the children’s time in the play area – a need expressed and fulfilled for our children

  • sponsored several notable individuals: Nancy Mellon, Bob Monsen and Anne Glover, to continue the enlightening education of our families and faculty – enriching our community

  • upgraded the school’s library for our children

Annual Giving and other fundraising dollars enable these things to happen, stretching tuition income to meet our commitment without compromising quality. Your tax-deductible donation ensures the growth of the Kelowna Waldorf School and is necessary to it continuing to be a choice in education for families in the City of Kelowna.

Your gift, at any level, will speak to your commitment of providing children the opportunity of a Waldorf education. Donations also allow us to offer small classes and enrich them with specialty classes such as languages, movement, music and handwork.
Foundations often base their donations on the level of giving within the organization itself; a 100% show of support is vital to all other fundraising efforts.

We are truly a world in need of understanding, love and a strong sense of community. In maintaining the high ideals of education and service to community, the Kelowna Waldorf School strives to enrich our world one child at a time.

We are seeking gifts from generous parents, family members, individuals and businesses. Please join us in our efforts to support Waldorf education in Kelowna.

There is more than one way to give at Waldorf. Giving can be done through tax-deductible donations, through assisting with fundraising in the community or by participating in providing goods and services that can be sold at auction to raise monies, or by providing your time through volunteering.
