Angela Prettie, Grades 3 & 4
My name is Angela Prettie. I am a Canadian Waldorf teacher, spent time at the Whistler Waldorf School (formerly Alta Lake School). I grew up in Kelowna, British Columbia, and went to University in Victoria, B.C.. I graduated with a Bachelor of Education in 1990, and taught public school in Prince George School District for 6 years. I had a spiritual awakening in 1995, and realised that I couldn't teach in the public system any more. I decided to move down to my home town of Kelowna on faith. The next spring I began volunteering and substitute teaching at the Kelowna Waldorf School. In 1998, I took my first summer of training at Rudolf Steiner College in Sacramento, and met the teachers from Taos there. I successfully moved to Taos and taught at the Waldorf-inspired school called Country Day. My H -1b visa expired October 31, 2001, and I then began teaching in a Cree reservation school in Manitoba. For the next seven years after that, from 2002-2009, I taught at the Whistler Waldorf School. I am very happy and feel very grateful to be back in my home town of Kelowna. I am looking forward to watching my class grow through the grades, and taking part in my own growth as a human being as well.
